Limousin
Limousin is set on the western
tip of Massif Central, a land of traditions, preserved countryside,
with uninhabited landscapes, rivers, lakes and
valleys such as the Dordogne, combined
with medieval villages, Limoges porcelain and enamels and Aubusson
tapestries.
Numerous signposted trails
for cyclists cover the areas of 'Périgord-Limousin'
and 'Millevaches', both national parks offering
a great variety of fauna and flora as well as heritage with many villages
built with local savoir-faire and materials.
If you love nature, probably
one of the other reasons which attracts you to France is food. Who
can blame you? In
Limousin you will find
an abundance of ingredients on the stalls of the local markets and in
the restaurants offering local specialities based on centuries of respect
for high-quality produce, often combined with original recipes. The basis
of the gastromy is the famous 'limousin beef and lamb', mushrooms, chestnuts
and apples...
Limousin is also famed for
some of France's premier cycling events, including the Paris-Vatan,
Vatan-Limoges, Limoges-Maurs,'La
Limousine' and “le
Tour du Limousin'.
