Carry on Camping
It’s
official: camping IS cool
and where better to enjoy this leisurely pastime than in the north of
France? Just a short hope over the Channel, the region is relatively
unknown and is actually a rural gem, with some beautiful locations to
pitch a tent!
Worth visiting is the Camping
La Dune Blanche in Camiers, situated along the coast from
Calais between Le Touquet and Hardelot. As the name suggests, the campsite
is in a stunning
position, surrounded by white sand dunes and pine woodland. Children
are well catered for with kayaking events on the lake in the summer
months, cookery and handicraft classes, and themed evenings of entertainment.
A lovely rural campsite in Northern France
is Le Camping
les Piloteries, which is set on a dairy farm near Hardinghen.
Although lacking the amenities of many of the larger campsites, this
far exceeds them in charm. The owners, Jean-Paul and Isabelle Guerlain,
have set up a campsite on their farm, which enables guests to get up
close and personal with animals and even watch the cows being milked.
The campsite is very small and wonderfully peaceful so be sure to book
early.
